MY FIRST BOOK IS BEING PUBLISHED AND YOU CAN PRE-ORDER IT NOW TO MAKE SURE YOU EAT IT LATER
“Sticky Time” (Sunflower Station Press) is coming November 15.
I wrote a book and it’s being published on November 15th. THAT’S REAL…..SOMEHOW THAT’S REAL!!!
I’m so happy and grateful and beyond yay. The book is 50 poems and it’s called Sticky Time and my favorite publisher Sunflower Station Press is releasing it <3
The poems exist because of my Awesome Psychosomatic Breakdown in 2023, which of course I needed to process in words. And then I kept living.
My sticky time got nice, OK? My sticky time got really nice and you get to see why & how when you read the poems, OK??
There is a narrative, kind of. The speaker loops up and down, but at its core this is a book that moves from chaos to calm. Because we can always move from chaos to calm, OK?? Ok……
Alex 2 years ago is about to be so happy. She’s scratching her bloody, eczematic hands and refusing to see a dermatologist…but her time is always kind of thin so maybe she knows that This is happening now and that’s why she left her stale apartment and woke up.
So thank you. Beyond thank you to the months, to my publisher, the whole team, my editor, readers, friends, love, family, truly truly everyone involved ~
And special shoutout to the book designer, Lauren Cassiano. She made the entire layout and visual language so weird and wonderful and aligned with the poems. And she scanned and manipulated figures from my paintings to use as the imagery!
Ok, really earnest post, but I think this is the time to be earnest. This is my first book. This is my first book!! And you can pre-order it now!!!
ALSO! If you’re reading this and want to do a review or press of any kind, please reach out!! Yay
Let’s get sticky ;)
Official description:::::
Swallowed Fingers, Gummy Hours, Choking On Screens, Collect Your Self.
In Sticky Time’s visceral, synesthetic poems, our speaker chronicles her quest for stability during a year of emotional and physical scattering. Ripe with surreal language and grotesque images, the poems toy with metaphysical questions concerning the nature of time, psychosomatics, technology, and conflicting visions of self. A full spin through the organs and the instants.
